.WHOSWHO UPDATE: 700,000+ Previously Reserved Domains Being Released to the General Public on 2 September 2016

by | Aug 25, 2016 | News | 0 comments

On Friday, 2 September 2016, Who’s Who Registry will (#1) release over 700,000 previously reserved .whoswho domain names for registration on a first-come, first-served basis.  The registry is at the same time (#2) launching its tiered pricing model and (#3) introducing a new Price List that slashes Standard pricing from $75 to $20 and designates that all years of registration beyond the first will be at Standard pricing, making Tiers a one-time premium.

Many of the names being released will be available for registration at Standard pricing, which includes most domains comprised of individuals names, such as <firstlast>.whoswho .  The top tier will offer registrations of all one-character domains, cascading down across multiple tiers with two-, three- and four-character strings being marketed as monogram/acronym domains. Thousands of family/surnames, first/given names, geographic, and profession names are being released, as well as high-value generic keywords and potential trademarks and trade names.

All names released will be subject to the Trademark Claims Process per ICANN policy.

.WhosWho – Last Word in Branding

A cornerstone of .whoswho’s philosophy is that, as a personal branding statement, individual registrants should be able to register their <firstlast>.whoswho name at Standard pricing. Empowered by 21st century technologies, bloggers, site builders, opinion leaders, and activists looking to build a brand will discover the power of .whoswho to convey a focus on individuals who are changing the world – or just their little corner of it.  While as a dictionary term “who’s who” cannot be copyrighted, it continues to be used a component in trademarks registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office when linked to geographic or community groups.
