Services Overview

The Trademark Clearinghouse (TMCH) offers three main services to protect intellectual property rights in the digital landscape. The Sunrise Service provides TMCH clients with priority access to register trademarks during the Sunrise Period of new generic top-level domains (new gTLDs) like .LINK, .APP, and .MUSIC, allowing trademark owners to secure domain names before they are available to the public.

The Trademark Claims Service notifies domain name registrants and Trademark Holders about potential infringements during the Claims Period, which lasts at least 90 days into General Availability, providing continuous protection against trademark infringements. After the initial 90-day Claims Period, the Ongoing Notifications service alerts TMCH clients about potential intellectual property infringements beyond the initial period, covering all new gTLDs and popular legacy TLDs.
